Nov 08, 2011 Makes my Old Model Single-Six 5 1/2' (20-218XX) a circa 1969 standard model covertable (although it only had the 22MAG cylinder with it when I bought it even though it's in mint condition). Some of those Old Model Single-Sixes with the 20 and 21 prefix with the 5 1/2 in. Were single cylinder guns. Ruger single six I.D. How does one tell the date of manufacture of a Ruger single six by the serial #? I am sure this has been asked before and I have been searching past forums with no luck so I thought I would asked you fellas more knowledgable than me.

Ruger Aficionado Location: The Old Frontier | New Model Single Six Serial Numbers I picked up a New Model Single Six today and looked up the Serial Number. I hadn't noticed the double line of serial numbers before. 162-165 in one series and 168 in the other. I didn't find a thread that adequately addressed this. Is this two different models, lines, factories .. ? I figured there would be some wisdom on here. |

Moderator Location: Arizona | OK - shoulda known. My guess is one prefix is for the 22LR/22 Mag convertible and the other is the 17HMR model. Just a guess though. |

You should now be able to issue the command to see that MongoDB is running: systemctl status mongodb. Ubuntu 16.04 solution If you are using Ubuntu 16.04, you may run into an issue where you see the error mongodb: unrecognized service due to the switch from upstart to systemd. To get around this, you have to follow these steps. • Update apt with the command sudo apt-get update. • If you added the /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mongodb-org.list, remove it with the command sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mongodb-org.list. Mongo install.

Location: Virginia | Old Model Single Six-Serial Number I bought a nice Old Model Single-Six today to have some fun with. I have been trying to date it with the serial number on the Ruger Website but I'm having a problem. The serial number on my gun has a letter in front of the number and I'm not seeing anything like that on the Ruger Website. The serial number on my gun is D500460 (picture attached) and that number is also marked on the box. Can someone tell me what year my Single-Six was manufactured? Thank you. Moderator Location: Arizona | The D means it was a duplicate serial number. Ignore the D and use the number to find your year. Just keep in mind sometimes guns shipped out of sequence so if you really want to nail it get a letter from Ruger. Looks like a nice example and having the box is a plus. Some collectors like to collect the duplicate 'D' guns. |

Moderator Location: Arizona | 500460 would seem to be a 1964 Super Single Six. Do you have an adjustable rear sight? |

Location: Oklahoma City | If it's a Super Single Six, the number puts it at 1964. Unless it's a Single Six Magnum, then 1968. Hope this helps. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk |

Location: Virginia | Thank you Waveform. Mine appears to be listed on the Ruger Website with the Super Single-Six serial numbers (as produced in 1964). I guess mine is considered the Convertible Single Six as it has fixed sights but I also got the matching 22 Mag cylinder. It is also listed on the box as 'Single-Six' Catalog No. RSS5. Except for a touch of muzzle wear on the left side it is in exceptional condition which I really didn't notice until I got it home. I'm not a Ruger collector but I have really enjoyed the few that I have owned over the years. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Moderator Location: Arizona | That's an excellent example and one that would have some collectors very interested. Another possibility and one I'm starting to think is most likely is that your example is from 1968. The RENE Reference mentions that a block of 1400 RSS5X duplicate serial number Single Six convertibles were released in 1968 and are in the general serial number range D500000 to D505140. I know you said the box is marked RSS5 but perhaps that's an error. You have wood grip panels so it could also be an RSS5W. Either way it would be a pretty scarce example and this is one time it would be a good idea to contact Ruger customer service and request a letter that would nail down exactly what model you have and what year it was shipped. It may have been shipped originally as an RSS5W (non-convertible) and the magnum cylinder was fitted later. This was fairly common back in that era and something the factory was willing to do then for a modest fee thereby giving the Single Six owner the convertible option. Apparently that block of duplicate serial number Single Sixes were used in 1968 to produce both convertible and 22LR only models. The most rare would be an RSS5W but the RSS5X would be pretty scarce too. Seems like you have one or the other. Congratulations on a nice find. The excellent condition of your example make me suspect the previous owner knew it was rather scarce and kept it in pristine condition. |

Location: Virginia | lestert357 - I don't know what you paid for that Ruger but you may have the potential to make a lot of profit. I would second the advice from Waveform to acquire a letter from Ruger. That's a really nice and very collectable Ruger complete with a box. I would strongly suggest that you establish a value for it and consider offering it for sale if there's a big profit margin for you. |

Location: Virginia | Guys, thanks for all of the terrific information - much more than I was expecting. I will get a factory letter on it and post the results. I really just bought the gun to take to the range; my collection is more on the S&W side. Anyone have a nice Registered Magnum they want to trade for this gun? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Location: Kentucky | Just for the heck of it . . . There was a similar run of 'D' guns in the Super Single Sixes in 1967, but their serial number range was D528000 thru D528752. Data from RENE. |
